Hackham West
During spring 2023, Lullaby Project came to South Australia’s beautiful Mid North as part of our first rural project, in conjunction with a parallel project running in Yorke Peninsula.
We created nine beautiful, heartfelt and delightfully funny lullabies through four weeks of creative Lullaby Project sessions at the Clare Valley Children’s Centre. We also partnered with playgroups and libraries through the region, using Lullaby Sky displays to invite and collect ideas. Through workshops we incorporated the nearly 100 submissions into six very special group lullabies that families across the Mid North can treasure.
The project was led by Lullaby Artist Jodie O’Regan, with cellist Heather Lander travelling from Adelaide for the Clare workshops, and Luke Thompson joined for the recording and concert. The collection of beautiful lullabies were all recorded live in Redruth Music Studio, in Burra.
A community celebration was held on December 3 at Clare Town Hall that saw each of the 15 new lullabies performed with and for local families.
